Pool of Radiance
Baldurs gate Betrayal at Krondor |
Battle Isle 2.
some serious battle strategy, made in germany years ago, very difficult game, satisfying too. Oh, and doom2, i used to spend days making kickass maps, got the suckers somewhere. my 2c. |

Betrayl at Krondor rocked, good buy and play on the weekend all weekend game that one
Zelda was just awesome in terms of actual gameplay My other ones would be doom Quake Quake3 C & C Warcraft 2 AOE2 Though I got right into commander keen on my 386, and duke 1 and 2 before that on my first pc it would have been Hitchikers guide to the galaxy, Zork 1 and kings quest! all text based.. great fun all of them.. sif games dont own! |
Quake CTF
Quake LAN CS Q3A (counterstrike and Q3A are brilliantly opposite, when you get bored of one, play the other... repeat this until you die of old age) Quake 2 Mario Kart (SNES and N64) Warcraft 2 |
I have to say it would be either
Tribes or Ports Of Call if anone can remember that one :-) |
um why id have to say
myth 1 or 2 quake x doom1 ,2 ta c&c fallout 2(pimping out your wife) duke3d mario cart(snes) rock and roll racing(snes) the list goes on and on but yeah games |
my favourite would probably be syndicate (the original), it had heaps of blade runner-type atmosphere, cool weapons and funky movies
and assasinating some subversive was the most fun |
1)Populous
2)Civ I & II 3)Moria 4)Masters of Orion I & II 5)Spindizzy 6)Tetris 7)Secret of the silver blades (and other SSI D&D RPG's of that era) 8)R-Type 9)Gran Turismo 10)Speedball I & II Quake I & II & III would probably lead the pack of FPS's in at around 15, only because of the multiplayer frenzy it produced. That was someting worth experiencing. The game itself wasn't particularly spectacular. |
Damn - I left out Gran Turismo and Total Annihilation. That was the only RTS game I could ever play - it was so awesome and epic.
|
TA had nothing on Dark Reign or Starcraft. Its only claim to fame is that it was a good prototype for 3D RTS's, but it lacked some majorly important gameplay standards that had been used successfully in the sprite RTS's.
|
Karnov!! JeffK did a comparison a while back between Karnov and Q3A - read it at http://www.somethingawful.com/jeffk/q3akarnov/q3avskarnovf**.htm
No, seriously, my fav's are: - Quake x - CTF - Rocket Arena - Team Fortress - Head Hunters - Gran Turismo x (just need a PS2 for GT2000 now. :( ) - Tony Hawk Pro Skater (just getting into that) plus probably quite a few more... Cerb |
as if diablo 2 was anything special, all it did was take diablo and make it bigger

Wolfenstein, for opening the doors to the FPS genre.
Doom Series, for taking it to the first step with multiplayer. Quake Series, for refining multiplayer gaming and evolving it to where it is today. Wing Commander series (though it started to lose flavour towards the end) Speedball II, for its simplicty and fun-ness). Populous Series, because being god is more fun than worshipping one. Dungeon Keeper (hell, anything by bullfrog) Sim City (more addictive than crack) Dark Reign (yeh) Rescue Raiders (Apple II) Captain Goodnight (Apple II) Oh, so many more. |

I tried to resist, but anyway...
Some of my fondest gaming memories occured sitting in front of my Commodore 64. Remember the classics like: Wizards of WOR H.E.R.O Pitfall The Last Ninja Double Dragon River Raid and Frogger Then I upgraded to a SEGA Megadrive in the height of console popularity. Much of my early teenage life was wasted in front of this little black box. I was a Die-Hard Sega fan. To utter the word "Nintendo" was blasphemous. Who could forget the Sonic series? or Shinobi? What about StreetFighter II? This is bringing a tear to my eye. I am being overwhelmed by a warm, fuzzy feeling of nostalgia. I cant believe I sold my C64 and 400 games for $20. Shift + Run/Stop = Press Play On Tape |
If like to back on the past sgt.strex with such warmth.imagine how I feel when I look back on my induction to the gaming world it was sitting awe struck in front of a little wonder called a hamenix(s*** it was so long ago i can't remember how to spell it lol)playing games like pong and indy 500 which was nothing more than a couple of squares for cars and a TV screen that was for the most part blank.then of course I upgraded to the awesome power of the first Atari when my mum bought me one for my 11th birthday with games like
1.asteroids 2.missile command 3.defender 4.and of course the legendary space invaders the game that hooked more kids on computer games than probably any other game in history any |
i think that most of teh games here would be considered instant clasics and guranteed top 100 game of all time slots.
like master of orion. that still rocks today. i can't wait to see what they do with master of orion 3. oh and TA had no flaws. the diversity of the units was it's biggest plus. though limiting u to 250 was annoying. but u did'nt need any more then that. i mean just 1 krogoth was f*****g awesome yet it would get owend by a buzzsaw so easily. how i fondly remember being in a 20 hours non stop game of TA. and i don't think anyone won that either :) |
and oh yeah if where going back to the apple IIe's
conan the barbarin what a game you could throw knives and jump and climb ladders and that about it oh and lode runner yeah baby custom levels rox j00 |
Skate or die on Apple IIgs rocked hard as did moon patrol.
|
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
In no particular order Master of Orion 2 Incubation (Battle Isle 3 I think, or 2) Warhammer: Dark Omen Homeworld Half-Life (Single Player & Counter Strike) Nox Fallout 1 & 2 Zelda 3 Mario Kart Super Mario Bros Yoshi's Island Smash Tennis Quake 2 (single & multiplayer) I-War (the best space sim ever!) Myth 1 & 2 Dungeon Keeper My old Spectrum ZX 48k games Super Punchout Kung Fu (an old arcade game when I was 6) Donkey Kong (the original and best) Grand Prix Pong the list goes on..... Oh well g0dfr3y |
Hmmmmmm

hey i know of versions of doom that are out now that can be played using TCP/IP. i consider myself unbeatable at doom2 (not doom1 cos no double shotty) and challenge any of you to try and beat me :P
|
YOu can tell most peoples ages here by looking at the games they like.
Sgt.Strex and Godfr3y U old bastards!! ;) me too brassOnes |
sif nathan...
mario kart on snes was fun mario kart on 64 is fun + good graphics(for its time) + 4player + i still play it... and ive had it for nearly three years :P go my 1:40.72 on mario raceway :P |
from what ive played of mario kart64 its so much less skill orientated
mario kart on snes was all skill and if you were a newbie...you sucked, if you were a pro..you were a PRO mario64 takes less skill to master, has more flukeelements in it due to the course design and the items. so yeah, i dont like it as much |
in my life ive come across a few games that i decided i liked and would get really really good at
mario kart is one of them, it brought me much gaming enjoyment as did most games on my snes, SNES rules, even now with a athlon650 i still play snes games frequently with an emulator |
yeah i loved mario kart as well... all my friends are s*** at computer games so whenever i get the chance to play agaisnt them i compltely wipe them out easily. back when i played mario kart i actually played someone of equal skill and i got quite good at it as well :D
|
id beat you at battle mode for sure!
i am a green shell marksman i dont need red shells |
yeah nice one id kick your ARSE!
coem to qgl and ill play against you |
i never go to qgl cos i live on gold coast and no-one would drive me up there
|
and we don't take kindly to southerners up here either
|
ill drive you
but you have to get me a liscense and a car and you cant crack on to me while im driving, keep your gay urges under control |
What a rockin' game
or Zaxxon Pit Fall Pac-man (didn't really get into this one) mmmmmmmm memories eh? I forgot to mention Secret of Mana as well. I once played that for 75 hours with only 6 hours sleep in the middle - and I never did beat the final boss. Oh well g0dfr3y |
i actually just couldn't get into secret of mana, for somereason i don tknow why, after playing zeld3 illusion of giaia, final fantasy 3...the list goes on
well after playign those i judy found i didn't like mana that much, i didn't like the combat system much, and although i did get quite into it at onestage i found it became a little directionless and i was nto really knowing which way to go, i dont like that |
i cant believe the number fo people who's favourite games are recent pc games.
allthese games most of you talk about are just multiplayer blast away games. older games had so much more to them. in my opinion the super nintendo was the ultimate gamming platform, soooo many awesome games, games with so much depth to them, pitty so many awesome rpgs weren't released in australia or even any english speaking countries. thank god for emulators, and thank god for hte hard working people who translate and release english versions of all those snes games that never got released in english. |
- wing commander series.. (#1 was the best!!!!)
- Evey commander Keen game - Warcraft 2 - Total Annihilation - Captain Comic and quake 2 and 3 of course |
im sorry but ijust dont see how you can prefer wingcommander 1 to number 2
number 2 had waaaay more story, and it was an excellent story too and the missions were generally a bit more tactical the ships were better aswell you knwoi always hated the hornet, you coudl hardly see anything out of that little windscreen, give me a broad sword with tripple mass driver cannons anyday!!! holy s*** ithink im gonan start plyaing it again its so awesome i will admit that wing commander 1 came with better documentation thoug, ship blue prints and character profiles |
hey has anyone here played hexen co-operative mode? that is truly the greatest fun ive had on the computer when me and my mate used to play it over modem. he was the fighter and i was the mage and it was just plain f*****g fun. i remember one time we started at 4pm and didnt finish untill 5am the next morning. it took us at least a month to finish that game and that was with pretty solid playtime during that month. so yeah co-op hexen is my fav game :D
|
you might have stated what game you were talking aboutat the start of your post....geez
|
did you jsut edit that post? cause i swear i didn't see that first sentence before
|
well #1 started it all..
i thought it was the scimitar that had the triple mass driver... the broadsword had two ion things (the blue ones) and 2 mass drivers... oh well, i might be wrong. it's going back a fair way.. and all this talk is making me want to get it out an play it again as well |
no the broadsword in wc2 had tripple mas driver, it was a heavy bomber
sabre had smoething else, it was a heavey fighter. id look up the blueprints but im nto at home at the moment, ill do it when i get home but i think sabre have plasma and...grr cant remember |
