Okay, so I've managed to find a program www.playon.tv that allows you to basically stream data from your pc to your Wii. Since this is possible, it MUST be somehow possible for me to stream my avi files to my Wii.

Anybody know how?

Softmod your Wii, then install MPlayer CE. It can access SMB shares and plays pretty much everything a modded Xbox with XBMC could.

It works OK, a Wii is no media centre though, it just isn't powerful enough for good quality video.

I believe tversity streams it via http, so you can watch it from ur wii internet browser.

wot so wii isn't good enought to watch avi files streaming from here? why would I need hard drive if I just stream from pc? I don't have xbox 360 so no xbmc s***.

the wii is good enough to play your low res .avi's

but like the xbmc on the original xbox it wont play hidef and some of the other higher res stuff on the scene these days.
