I got a PSP yesterday and screwed it already! I tried to update the firmware but one of the files was missing (401.PBP) so I downloaded that and slapped it on the memory stick, however all i get on screen is:
401.PBP doesnt exist.
Do you want to download it from the internet?
It wont download from the net though and whatever I press does nothing... Dont know how to fix it, any help would be awsome.
Were you trying to install custom firmware?
yeah, 4.01 M33
ok thanks, got it sorted, im just dumb ;)
You didn't have the file in the right directory? What was the problem?
I was dumb enough to not know it resets if you pull the battery out for starters, but i cant get it to update still, gives me this error:
The game could not be started.
Dont know why yet, happens with the few updates I'v tried so far?
Im a complete noob to PSP.....

Have you got a UMD in the tray? Unless you change the UMD option in the custom boot menu, you need a UMD in the tray to run your iso's (if thats what you are trying to run)
I dont have any UMD's yet... I was trying to run NFS Most Wanted which is a CSO file...
Turn off your PSP. Restart it while holding down the rigth trigger. This should bring up a custom menu. In there you can set the UMD mode so you dont need a UMD in the tray to run up your cso or iso's.
