World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Intro Cinematic Trailer3:51 Added: Fri Aug 17 9:26am 2012
Alliance warships prowl the seas. Horde armies thunder across Kalimdor. Tensions between these factions edge closer to erupting in a savage war that threatens to consume all of Azeroth
Looks amazing, sounds fantastic. When are they going to make a movie! I don't even play the game coz after blizzard's awesome trailers the game can't live up to the hype.
Yeah, apart from the Pandaren monk, and horde and alliance at war with each other, and them washing up on the shores of Pandaria and discovering it. Nothing at all to do with the game apart from that.
Cinematic was amazing. But has little to do with the actual game.
lol reckon the first couple of quests seem to be based around some lame story about alliance vs horde on the shores of pandaria, who then get blamed for awakening fear and doubt boogey men in pandaria and you spend the rest of the time saving them from that. oh and insects. not sure whose fault they are
seems like since the lich king, they are unable to come up with a decent theme and villain for their xpacs
That Tides of Darkness cinematic looks quaint these days. 17 years from now the Mists of Pandaria cinematic will probably look the same. It sure will be some sweet CG for the WoW expansion pack due in 2029.
I don't think they can ever top Arthas/Lich King as far as villains go though. I mean, not only was he just a great villain, but there was so much lore behind it and build up to it. Any villains from now on are going to be pretty much introduced at the start of the expansion and killed at the end, so they're never going to have that same epic build up Arthas did.
While the quality and integrity of Blizzards games themselves is often a hotly debated topic, most tend to agree that theirlovingly crafted CG cinematics rarely fail to impress, and the opening video for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria expansion that debuted at GamesCom 2012 over night looks to be no exception."Whether you’re Horde or Alliance, there is one question we all must consider: Why do we fight?” Watch the clip embedded below, or here in our HD video library to draw your own conclusions.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is due on September 25th 2012 for PC and Mac.
Love Blizzard cinematics so much! They all rock :)
Both sides, you start as neutral then at a point in the story while you're levelling up, you choose which faction to align yourself with.
I never played WoW aside from a trial, but I did finish WC3 and the expansion.
Do you have to kill Arthas at the end of WotLK? How does that work with the story?
Yeah, the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is set in Nothrend. Arthas has built a huge citadel around the Frozen Throne called Icecrown Citadel and the final raid of the expansion is you fighting your way up through Icecrown Citadel to the Frozen Throne, where you fight Arthas. Most of the fight is essentially him fucking with you, summoning undead shit to attack you and calling down blizzards and breaking off bits of the platform you're standing on, etc. In the last phase of the fight he randomly picks people to focus on and sucks them inside Frostmourne, and if you're the one who gets sucked inside you need to help King Terenas (Arthas' dad) fight off the wraiths inside Frostmourne until you get back out.
Eventually, when you get him to 10%, he gets bored and insta-kills the entire raid, and then starts to cast a spell to raise the entire raid as an undead army. Then Tirion Fording hulks out and busts out of the ice prison Arthas put him in at the start of the fight and leaps towards Arthas and fucks his day up with Lightbringer, and breaks Frostmourne. All the spirits trapped in Frostmourne pour out and swirl around Arthas in like a vortex and lift him up in the air and hold him helpless, then the spirit of King Terenas resurects the whole raid and you all get to burn down the last few percent of Arthas' life while hes held helpless by all the spirits and is doing the whole "No! This can't happen!" type of thing.
Then theres a cool ingame cutscene that plays out, that you can probably find on youtube, of Arthas dying in the arms of his father's ghost, and then Bolvar Fordragon takes up the Lich King's helm and sits on the Frozen Throne to act as a jailer for the scourge.
It was pretty fucking cool, probably one of, if not the best fights in the game, would be hard to top.
