Garden Warfare may not be the most ambitious game ever made, but its one with a clear sense of personality and identity, which is more than you can say for a lot of other online shooters...

It’s likely that this will be the death of the series as we know it, which would be a real shame; if an unlikely sequel is announced, I hope the developers look to the first Lord of Shadows for inspiration, and not the latest incarnation...

It’s still the old Donkey Kong Country that we’ve known and loved for so long though, and for many players that’s going to be enough. We just wish it felt more like a proper sequel and less like an expansion.

Review by Joaby @ 25th February, 2014
Like I said earlier, if you're coming in expecting a Thief game like those from Looking Glass, you're not going to be pleased by what you lift here. The problem with Thief is that the studio spent so much time trying to make a game for all kinds of people that it forgot to execute any single part of the experience perfectly...

Smoke and Mirrors establishes that The Wolf Among Us will likely be worth seeing through, although whether it’s worth doing so now or waiting for the season’s end is a more open question than one might have anticipated at the end of the first episode.

Review by Gameboffin @ 11th February, 2014
Although a little too quick to link gore with horror for my liking, Outlast rests upon wide foundations of creepiness and builds on them with a good amount of tension and urgency.

What’s best to take away from this is you get the full game and all content released, updated visuals that actually make the game look next-gen, and that same rewarding sense of adventure and exploration coupled with Lara’s personal, traumatic ascension to true Tomb Raider. Bring on the inevitable sequel, I say...

Review by KostaAndreadis @ 23rd January, 2014
The Banner Saga is a turn-based tactical RPG in the vein of Nintendo’s Fire Emblem series, but one that brings its own set of rules to the table -- all wrapped up in what can only be described as breathtaking hand-drawn visuals...

There may not be much actual “game” in Broken Age Act 1, but as a window into two interesting and charming adventures it easily fulfills the Kickstarter promise.

It’s fun and spirited, and well suited to a launch that has been awash with big showy blockbusters – it’s something to relax with, or to let the kids play when you’re done with Dead Rising.

Review by Gameboffin @ 13th January, 2014
When it comes to longevity, that old chestnut of “you get out of it what you put in” applies. Don’t Starve has some pretty cool things to discover, from useful to useless, such as protective suits, darts, a dapper vest, gunpowder, a bird cage and heaps more. Everything you gain may not be permanent, but if you’re savvy enough there are ways to insure that your delicate time in each world is backed up...

The game shows conceptual promise – you unlock some mild security manipulation powers that will hopefully be pushed further in future episodes – but conceptual promise isn’t worth much until it has been delivered upon.

We won’t know for sure just how effective the set-up here was until the full season is complete sometime next year, but as it stands right now, we’re totally on board.

If all you want is more Peggle, that’s what you’re getting here, and it’s still fine on a conceptual level…it’s just very hard to get properly invested in it anymore.
