The storyline kicks off with a bang as BioWare unashamedly throws you into the middle of a cataclysmic event that sparks strong driving questions for the player and instant division among the game world’s NPCs as to whether the playable character is a force for good or evil...

If you’re new to the series and curious, this is the way to play Halo. With over 45 campaign missions, more than 100 multiplayer maps, access to the Ridley Scott-produced Nightfall series, and the Spartan Ops challenge missions set to drop next month, this is a comprehensive Halo offering that more than justifies the price of admission...

This year of course, the conversation revolves around two things: new studio Sledgehammer Games being at the helm, and their procurement of the venerable Kevin Spacey as one of its main characters. It’s also the series’ true step into the next-generation of home console, if you ask me, and while the game manages to strike all of the franchise’s beats with metronome-like proficiency, it does so with a ‘best hits’ mindset...

Insomniac Games have always been good at excess, but Sunset Overdrive manages to take a series of absurd ideas and concepts and render them coherent, giving you a playground that constantly rewards your actions.

There are moments where The Legend of Korra feels spot-on, as you level up your abilities and rip through hordes of bad guys with masterfully composed combos. The underlying ambition shines through in these moments, although fans of the show will be disappointed – the plot is paper-thin, and callbacks for fans are all but non-existent...

It’s gratifying to see Gearbox let the team run with it and I really just couldn’t get enough. If you love shooters and don’t pick up this belter of a game, you’re downright un-Strayan...

This is the absolute peak of this stuff that we do. It has no bullet-points a marketing team can get high off because it does what it wants, because it’s perhaps what Mikami has always wanted. But if it had come sooner, if he’d been let off his leash before now, it wouldn’t be this. The Evil Within is masterful and gruelling...

It’s difficult to think of any reason you shouldn’t play this, because I can’t. It’s a compelling experience unlike anything else out in the market, despite borrowing heavily from a couple of other big guns. Thoroughly recommend...

Review by nachosjustice @ 3rd October, 2014
Despite the aforementioned gripes, Alien: Isolation kept me coming back for more time and time again, even when it was kicking my arse. As a gamer who prides himself on being quite resilient to the tension tactics of your average horror title, when Isolation was at its best (which it was for most of the game) it had me doing things I’ve never done before. It made me look away. It made me cover my mouth. It made me close my eyes. It even made me scream on more than one occasion...

Review by Steve Farrelly @ 16th September, 2014
That alongside this we not only get excellent co-op options, PvP by way of the Crucible and the promise of more content to be delivered over the course of the game’s (expected long) life actually feels like a bonus. There is room to improve and build upon this base, but it’s a fantastic base regardless. It should only get better from here on out...
