This almost promotable post to the QGL Forum pointed to
this article on Whirlpool announcing:
The ACCC yesterday siezed control of pricing for copper access, making it a "declared service".
The move was welcomed by Optus, which has been pushing for the ACCC to regulate the service. Line sharing allows one phone company to offer voice services over the copper line, with another (such as Optus) offering ADSL on the same line.
Additionally:
Telstra responded furiously to the decision, saying it was not what the market wanted
I'm not sure what research they're basing that opinion on - to ADSL customers get to fill out a survey, or something? There are a lot of interesting comments in the Whirlpool article with a bit more information, but hopefully this means we'll see even more competition in the ADSL market.
