Khabal Games have a Q&A with Mike de Plater, Creative Director of Creative Assembly, the developers of the upcoming Medieval: Total War. A followup to the popular Shogun title, Medieval offers a bunch of improvements, which are checked out in the Q&A:
With regard to the gameplay there are quite a lot of improvements: Firstly, the AI has been improved and the computer opponents are now a lot more cunning. Secondly, the combat system is improved in a number of ways including charging cavalry now being able to smash enemy lines, spearmen and pikemen getting bonuses for fighting in ranks, some units being armed with armour piercing weapons, men being able to push each other back in battle and it being easier for faster units to disengage from a fight. And on top of all of that, there are the new siege weapons and artillery.I've been playing a preview build of Medieval for the last couple of days and have been having a good time checking out all the bits and pieces - stay tuned to AusGamers.com for preview coming soon! If you haven't seen any, check out some of the impressive visuals in the screenshots archive.
