A recent survey of Australian internet gamblers claims to show that
Australia's Internet Gambling legislation isn't working.
"In that period of 12 months, and the legislation was introduced and passed by Parliament in June or July last year, what we saw was that the number of sites visited by Australians had actually increased,"
Communications Minister Richard Alston's spokesperson is reported in the article as saying that contrary to what the survey says, that the legislation is successful because it was 'designed to limit accessibility to online casino gambling'. I can only say HUH? More Australians are using more casinos since it was introduced and that's considered a success?!?!
The
Australian Casino Association will hopefuly post the survey results on their site at some stage.
Have any of you used an online casino since July last year? Ever?
