Codemasters has earned some scorn from PC gamers over the recent launch of Colin McRae Rally on Steam, a game that is promoted as "based on content from the 90% Metacritic rated Colin McRae Rally 2.0", but is actually a port of a 2013 mobile game (thanks Polygon).

Many Steam customers hoping for a faithful remaster to a beloved classic racing game have expressed their disappointment in the title, which reportedly doesn't include the car customisation options, and has less vehicles and tracks than the 2000's Colin McRae Rally 2.0, with a user-interface not optimised for desktop gaming. None of which is apparent in the trailer below.

That looks terrible. Wish there was a Rally Sport on the way but the dev went the way of the dodo.

Wow. For a moment I thought that was a port 'to' mobile and I was gonna say that it looks pretty good in that regard.

Then I read again, wtf..

A few of us in the office were excited for this, since we had really fond memories of the original game, but the fact that it has no multiplayer (since it is a mobile port) killed our interest.

So Codemasters, who have been making racing games for PC since the dinosaurs walked the Earth, decided to port a mobile game to PC and try to pass it off as a real game...

Whoever greenlit this needs to be fired.

In fairness to Codemasters the games probably like $10.
