Firefly Online, the upcoming strategic roleplaying game based on the cult-hit Joss Whedon TV series just scored itself a whole lot more credibility as it was announced at the recent San Diego Comic-con event that the actors from the show would be reprising their roles:
Yep, It's true. The Big Damn Heroes have joined Firefly Online!

Nathan, Alan, Adam, Sean and Ron have already recorded their parts, and Morena, Jewel and Summer are on the schedule and will be in studio soon. And we're currently working with Gina to find a time for her to record.

There's an epic new story they'll be helping tell (and when we say "epic", we mean "EPIC") and sidequests where you might just run into a familiar face.

In addition to the BDHs, Michael Fairman has joined the cast to reprise his role as Niska. We've already recorded Michael and his performance was nothing short of bone-chilling. Look forward to taking some jobs from Niska, if you dare!
Given that the game is in development by a studio only known for a handful of casual mobile games, we'd find this news hard to believe if Mal Reynolds himself, Nathan Fillion, hadn't made an appearance at the end of the first "gameplay" trailer. See for yourself below.

The announcement also suggests that the targeted release window for Firefly Online has been pushed back to Spring 2015 (Southern Hemisphere Autumn 2015).

Geez that looks a bit rough. The one question I'm asking is how did that team get the Firefly rights?

And using unity for a web page. That's very interesting. I'll pitch that to my next client :)

saw this the other day, graphics look terrible. would be a good concept for a single player if they fix the graphics.. when I saw the vid on youtube at first I thought it was a joke.

Looks like it was made back when the show was still on TV.

Its not really Firefly without Joss Whedon though, its just like the Weekend at Bernies version of Firefly, where they've tied strings to its dead limbs and they're jerking them around to make it look like its still alive
