Riot Games has offered up a brand new cinematic trailer for their popular free-to-play MOBA League of Legends, featuring a lineup of familiar characters from the game's roster, ranging from Ahri to Zyra and even the bulky Nautilus.

Clocking in at just over the six minute marker, "A New Dawn" sees "day [breaking] over a landscape consecrated by blood and steel," according to the official video blurb. As you can expect from a description like that, the cinematic is filled with lots of combat and adrenaline-filled action.

"I think we wanted players to come away with this feeling a stronger connection to the characters they play as," said Riot animator Rylan Davies in a behind-the-scenes talk. "I play Jax a lot and seeing him in cinematic form gives you a lot more of an attachment to the character."

"I think it's just about fleshing things out," he continues. "Who are these characters? What is the world really like that they live in? So when you play the game you get a very small piece of a much broader story that we want to tell."
