Star Citizen's dogfighting module Arena Commander won't be launching today as planned, creator Chris Roberts announced, revealing that unresolved bugs have caused the delay.

Developer Cloud Imperium's Arena Commander V0.8 has "too many blocking and critical issues outstanding," Roberts wrote alongside a bulleted list of existing problems.

"It would be foolish to release an unstable build, even if pre-alpha for the sake of meeting an internal deadline," Roberts wrote. "This is the power of the crowdfunding that made Star Citizen possible: a publisher would make us ship tomorrow regardless of the current build quality … but as you are all focused on quality rather than a financial return for shareholders we are able to take a few more days to deliver something that is stable."

The official post states that while the team is close, they sadly aren't ready for launch today but will be keeping backers updated. Star Citizen was recently in the news when it passed the $44 million mark, continuing to truck along as the largest crowd-funding video game campaign ever.

My silver lining is that I now no longer have to worry about if I should play the DFM or Wildstar this long weekend.

Didn't really expect it to be on time anyway, seems close enough to a release next week based off the daily updates they are giving.

Late news. It was due out yesterday.

They are doing daily updates on the bug list.

Most of the critical and show stopping bugs have been fixed, this one is worryingly not fixed yet.

Lag in feedback and update of essential game events resulting in increasingly divergent multiplayer sync

De-synced multiplayer is terrible.
