Rockstar San Diego's acclaimed open world western Red Dead Redemption has been sadly absent from the PC platform since its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 almost four years ago today, but could that be about to change soon?

The always resourceful chaps over on NeoGAF discovered that a database entry for the game has recently been established in the Windows Compatibility Center, an official resource maintained by Microsoft for cataloging approved Windows Software (thanks VG247).

Red Dead Redemption is listed as compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, which can reportedly only be created either by the application's developer, or by Microsoft itself, making it unlikely to be a community hoax. There's no sign of Rockstar's other big PC-absent title Grand Theft Auto V in the database though.

God i hope RDR comes to PC. Still probably my favourite game of last gen.

Indeed Murf.

Here's also hoping that Rockstar don't turn their back on PC. GTA IV produced some awesome mods!
Perhaps there's a Kickstarter campaign (or maybe just a petition) needed to get their attention.

Do you really think there wouldn't be one already?

RDR is amazing. Will definitely buy it again for PC

Awesome, would be nice to get my hands on this again, except in 1080p and 60FPS + the ability to use the mouse for online play...

Literally the only reason this game didn't get mass amounts of time played is because it was on a console.

Windows compatibility page said my i7 2700K was incompatible with Win8 when we checked at work ( I think they were trying nicely to say my motherboard didn't support 'SafeBoot' correctly - though they weren't specific at the time.)

My home PC isn't too much different from the 1500 units that we have in the field around the country and nz so took a screenshot and forwarded it on to Sydney. That was a difficult situation that I'm glad I dodged.

I'm happy to say that we're slowly upgrading from WinXP to Win7

though truthfully, I was hoping on something else

something better...

Looks like the Microsoft part of this fest has been removed.
