While he may have been busy getting Titafanll out the door, Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella has today announced (via VentureBeat) the creation of his newest mobile game studio, Nuclear Division.

Teaming up with former head of slot machine maker WMS Larry Pacey, Zampella's studio will be conveniently located in San Fernando Valley in LA, near Respawn's headquarters. Zampella told VentureBeat that mobile is growing so fast, it's "silly to ignore." He also said that consideration was put into forming a mobile section inside Respawn, however later decided that wasn't a good fit for the console-focused studio.

“It’s a device that I play on because I always have it with me,” he said. “It always connected. You’re engaged with it. There’s something you can do with that. I’m not saying one is better than the other, in terms of console versus mobile. It’s a different gaming experience. Both interest me.”

The studio is keeping its cards close to their chest for now, but did reveal that the team are now working on technology for a new platform. Currently the studio comprises of less than a dozen employees, but Zampella and Pacey expect that to grow out to 50.

“The goal is to build the kind of product that Vince and I know,” Pacey said. “It is based on things we like, and is more for the core gamer. If you look at our careers, we like to find new players experiences that are differentiated and unique.”
