Popular streaming website is planning to introduce a new beta program for group chat, a feature that allows streamers and users to create private chat rooms, the company announced today.

Chat rooms will act as an invite-only channel, and will be separate from the traditional chat options found during a stream. The beta feature begins today, though at this time only members of the Twitch Partner Program have access. Although regular Twitch users cannot set their own private rooms, they can be invited to a room by a Twitch partner. Chat rooms will also include moderation tools used for regular channel; broadcasters have the ability to assign moderators and allow chosen users to invite others.
One of the most beloved features on Twitch is the ability to chat with the broadcasters and your fellow gamers. In many ways, it’s what makes Twitch, Twitch. It’s where community memes begin. Where you express your glee, outrage, befuddlement, or amusement, as the case may be. Twitch is a social place, and chat is where the social exchange happens.
A demonstration can be found over on Twitch's official blog, and the feature is currently only available through the web with future partners to be determined.
