While we await a more official press release, Respawn Entertainment boss Vince Zampella has given the greenlight that we can now expect Australian local servers for their recently launched mech FPS tomorrow morning local time.

"Aussie servers coming online, starting Friday morning and building capacity each day! Combined EA/MS/Respawn effort to make it happen!," says the fresh tweet, putting it just in time for our local release of the game this morning. At this time players are being pushed to use the closest server geographically to Australia, which is the Singapore Azure datacentre. This has caused pings to sky-rocket to a minimum of 160, making it impossible to play in such fast-paced gameplay.

Zampella didn't reveal where exactly the servers will be physically located, however we expect to have more details leading up to the launch tomorrow morning.

Titanfall is now available on PC and Xbox One, with an Xbox 360 version coming sometime next week. Find our thoughts on the new mech-filled FPS in our recent review.

Steve Farrelly sometimes it pays to sustain an unreasonable amount of moody grouchyness until its officially fixed ;p

Cynical prediction: it will be massively under-provisioned and most of you will be playing in Singapore anyway.

i meant like how yesterday i was grouchy about there being no servers in some other thread (we have so many titanfall threads) and Steve Farrelly was being all "u need to listen and pay attention to what is being not said but being said wink wink" etc etc and i was determined to remain grouchy. As they now announce servers that bit has now been fixed so i was having a little joke. About that. If i must spell it out ;p

And as its the internet i think its only professional to at all times remain Cynical

I can't find anything to back it up so I've stayed quiet, but I agree on this one. Do you know where they are getting the temp hosting from? Wonder how long till someone starts slamming the datacentres with packets.

(I also have a cynical predication that even with the MS datacentres and lots of bandwidth - that there will still be problems re: "Cloud + Games + Microsoft" which surely will cause all kinds of lovely problems.)

they're not the azure servers:

we worked with MS to come up with a custom hosting solution until the Azure datacenter comes online.

oh, and they're hosted in sydney

This is a nice addition to the game but once again the pings cant change the lack of content. I'm interested to hear the ausgamers communities opinions on the content.

Well, not to start some tired old Master Race vs Console Noobs s***, but I would point out that PC gamers have almost 2 decades of experience playing hardcore multiplayer games where ping differences are a big deal.

The irony is that we were spoiled back the old days by simple open dedicated servers run by hobbyists and fans of the game - and in this day and age the server infrastructure of many games (including PC and console) is provided by big multi-billion dollar companies.

Of course we were further spoiled by mods and didn't have to pay for DLC to extend our games, resulting in a few tiny little pet projects you may have heard of like Counter-Strike, Team Fortress, and Dota.

I assume they are using a proprietary server browser and therefore you need to buy the game before you can even see a server listing?

One assumes he is not seeing them yet from within the game.

Mine is a general question. Can/will I be able to see a server list anywhere prior to buying game.

Remember the GameSpy/Xfire browser days? That was great times. Great.... times.... :''''(

It's all lobby / matchmaking based. So whilst there are servers you dont get a list to look at or choose from.

Just played on Aus servers.. worked a treat. The game is good fun.

Yep AUS server is up now. Gone from 1 bar to 4 and gameplay is so much better.

Could someone post the IP of an Aussie server?

Windows+R - Type resmon.exe - Look at network tab and see what IP Titanfall is sending most of it's data to.

Or netstat -a if that is your bag..

It seems to have a few issues with connecting players onto it but at least you can just jump on the Asia servers if you don't have time to stuff around trying to get on.

Played last night for a couple of hours.....50ms ping to the Aussie servers, didn't overly notice any difference to the 150ms ping but I'm sure it will keep some people happy.

That's what I meant by "If you can't feel lag at 150ms, then anything less won't be noticable"

I don't pay full money for games to play at less then optimal settings sorry. Playing on 1 bar is just annoying and I have no time for it.
Khel
Posted 01:31pm 15/3/14
While the game did a good job of covering up while you were playing so you didn't necessarily feel the lag, it was definitely noticeable when you'd watch killcams and see events unfold in an entirely different way to how they did on your screen. This should be heaps better for that reason alone.

Game has been working well since the AUS servers have been put in. I have no complaints around performance now.

As far as the game is concerned, I'm loving it. Quick, arcade'ish FPS fun! Titans are awesome, wall running and double jump are great. I enjoy the size of the team, makes it feel like you're making a difference.

Playing on PC, getting a solid 60fps with everything maxed out at 1080p. The game play reminds me a lot of a quake/ut style game. Was playing CTF for a while on Friday night. Was great fun, certainly leads itself to a lot of different strategies.

well s***. I had been able to easily resist the urge to get this without local servers... now I am not so sure. Wish this had come out for australian holidays and not american :P
