In an effort to help users more easily traverse the expanding mountain of content on Steam, Valve has launched Steam Tags, a new user-defined categorizing feature. Currently in beta, the feature is available to all Steam users.

Through Steam Tags, the community is able to tag games with genres, themes, attributes or any information they feel pertains to a piece of software, with the most popular used tags appearing on the game's store page. Of course, Valve has taken the initiative in filtering out some words, so no swear words.
Browse a new section of the Steam Store to discover games and software, organized by the most frequently used tags.

Plus, narrow your search to just products tagged with the terms you and your friends have applied. Browse by tags recommended based on the games you have played and software you have used recently.
Tags will also be categorised by their language, meaning non-English speaking Steam users will see their language first and foremost. A new "For You" section has also been introduced, that will provide you with tags shaped around your purchasing experiences.

"We want to ensure that it is easy for customers to find the particular types of games or software they are looking for," said Valve developer Al Farnsworth. "With this new feature, we are providing another powerful tool to help organize and browse products on Steam."
