Carbine Studios has sent out emails today inviting people (as spotted by user TufNuT) to stress test their upcoming MMO WildStar, with plans to blow up the servers in hopes of preparing for their eventual release.
Congratulations! The team at Carbine Studios would like to cordially invite you to participate in our latest Stress Test. Our engineers here at Carbine have spent years working on their server hardware, software, and everything in between, and now it's your turn to break it! Oh, and you'll get to play WildStar too, we suppose.

We want to push everything to their limits this week, and that can only be done with your help!
An initial error saw the first batch of emails being sent out without the stress test codes attached, though the WildStar team have apologised and stated that all should be fixed now and new emails racing across the Internet containing said codes.

The test weekend will be covered under the usual NDA cloak, meaning no streaming or screenshots will be allowed. With the game moving into late-level content testing next month, it sounds like Carbine are starting to gear up towards a hopeful release date announcement, though we'll keep our ears open for any news.

If you want some impressions from previous testers in regards to local ping levels, you can find my Reddit thread with a number of replies. So far it seems like the average ping is around 150-200ms, and some are saying its manageable while others claim it isn't for PvP.

Hopefully we can hear more on the situation and I'll try to poke around about local servers.

150-200ms is what I used to get in WoW when I was playing, its never a problem. though the combat system in WildStar is vastly different to wow so i guess it could make pvp difficult. all depends on what happens when the game goes live.

Latency is highly subjective. Some people don't mind the delayed response others (like myself) absolutely loath it.
