Acid Wizard Studio has revealed their first pre-alpha footage for upcoming indie title Darkwood, a top-down horror game based on a procedurally generated open-world. Featuring a very oldschool theme, Darkwood includes a flexible crafting system which lets you experiment with loot, consistent permadeath to challenge your playstyle and a ever-evolving world which offers a unique visit every time.

Currently in pre-alpha, the new gameplay trailer gives a great overlook at the danger that Darkwood can offer, with the character running through the night with only their flashlight to help them see ahead (or behind if you can muster the courage). Monsters are being kept in the dark for now, however the atmosphere is enough to keep you on edge when even the creepy kid pianist can send chills down your spine after showing you a disturbing hand-drawn picture.

You can check out the gameplay trailer below for a look into the world of Darkwood, or head over to the official website for more info on the game. Currently the game is slated for a 2013 release on PC and has just popped up on Steam Greenlight which you can vote for here.

Reminds me a little of Project Zomboid, just much darker and different perspective...and very spooky

That seems pretty nicely done.
