A new trailer for the upcoming Dead Island: Riptide has surfaced over on IGN, offering the first look at gameplay action in Techland's next addition the zombie shooter franchise.

No description on the video's contents appears to have been offered by IGN, but the producer narrating the gameplay walkthrough explains that it's demonstrating the game's new "hub defence mode". Beyond that, we're struggling to spot many enhancements over the original Dead Island, however it is expected to be more of an expansion rather than a full sequel. Check out the embed below and judge for yourself.

Dead Island: Riptide is due on April 26th 2013 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

There's nothing really new to justify a whole new game.

I wonder if they've fixed the Audio glitch in the original yet.
(Game is unplayable using USB headsets, there is often LOUD breaks and static that recur whilst just walking around in the game much less when action breaks out. Not patched since launch.)

Impressed with how "alive" the environment is. Does look like the same formula with a new location, though that's not unlike so many games these days anyway.
