The Kickstarter crowdfunding drive for Goblinworks' ambitious MMO Pathfinder Online has scraped across the line, reaching its lofty US$1,000,000 pledge target with only a couple of hours left on the clock.

Having reached our funding goal is such an amazing achievement. We'll be the 10th most funded videogame project in Kickstarter history. We are showing the videogame industry that there's a place for a fantasy sandbox MMO, FUNDED BY ITS PLAYERS.

For those not familiar with the franchise, Pathfinder is a tabletop fantasy role-playing game launched in 2009 that boasts to now be outselling genre stalwart Dungeons & Dragons. The game development company Goblinworks has been founded by veterans of both tabletop and MMO videogames, with resumes that include the CEO of Paizo Publishing and co-founder of Wizards of the Coast, former CMO of Eve Online developer CCP, the Programming Lead of Cryptic's City of Villains, among others.

With gameplay based on the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook, key features include a single server with unrestricted world PvP. The developer claims to already have the required funding to make the completed game on a long timeline, but that the Kickstarter funds and community participation will allow them to expedite the process, and increase the game's scope.

The team's attention has now turned to stretch goals, the first of which would introduce a Gnome race to the game at US1.06M.
