Capcom has revealed more screenshots (thanks Siliconera) detailing their upcoming Wii U and 3DS title Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, this time featuring two new enemies - Volvidon and Lagombi - each with a new blog post detailing their devastating attacks and defences.
Before we talk about the Volvidon, let’s first talk about its habitat: the Volcano. In the world of Monster Hunter, extreme heat will cause your health to deplete slowly until you pass out, presumably due to dehydration – much like real life. To remedy that, there are Cool Drinks.

When you see the Volvidon, make sure you’re ready to rock, because this beast is certainly ready to roll – in quite the literal sense, actually! With its armadillo-like shell and physique, rolling into a ball shape is no trouble for Volvidon; and with that, it can quickly roll forward, backward and even sideways, depending on where you and your companions are.

In order to survive in the Tundra’s cold and harsh environments, the Lagombi sports a thick layer of fur on its back and a strong and smooth shell coating on its belly, which allows it to slide in the snow-covered areas at high speeds.

In order for you to survive the Tundra’s environments, you’ll need to defeat the Lagombi... and bring Hot Drinks. With its aforementioned shell, the Lagombi can slide away from you, towards you, and even in a circular motion to trap you in place. You’ll either need to run fast or be quick with your guarding – both options require Stamina, which will deplete faster if you stay out in the cold for too long; so again: Hot Drinks.
You can read the full blog posts on the Volvidon and Lagombi here and here, but also check out the full gallery of screenshots at our game page, with a sneak peek below.

Do we know how local multiplayer is going to be implemented yet? I'd be super interested if there is full co-op with player 1 on gamepad and player 2 on TV?

They've focused on 3DS and Wii U local multiplayer to date but I'm not interested in buying a portable console and another game copy when I have a perfectly good Gamepad that could do the job.

Once again, the Japanese fail to understand most of the western market by putting a core game on a console that most core gamers are still yet to pick up out of fear of it turning into a waggle-fest again.

Agreed, right game, wrong console.
