GamesIndustry International is reporting that publisher Trion Worlds of the popular MMO Rift has confirmed amidst rumours that a recent layoff has occurred in the San Francisco office. While the numbers haven't been officially disclosed by Trion Worlds, a recent
Twitter post has stated that 30 people were possibly let go.
Katie Biernacki, a customer service employee at mobile developer The Playforge has also
tweeted saying that "Trion Layoffs are happening. Not a good day."
This news comes as layoffs last week at Las Vegas-based studio Petroglyph, who was working on the MMORTS End of Nations triggered Trion Worlds to confirm that the game had been moved to in-house development, stating that they will complete the development internally.
AusGamers wishes those that have been affected by the layoffs at both the San Francisco studio and Petroglyph the best of luck in finding new employment soon.
