Following last week's disappointing news that the hotly anticipated Rift head-mounted VR display would have its launch delayed by a few months due to new features and changes owed to the manufacturing process, its creators at Oculus have shared some new details about the new 7" screen planned for the device.

The update goes into technical detail describing the improved pixel fill factor, pixel switching time, and contrast ratio afforded by the new screen choice, meaning less ghosting, screen-door artifacting and more vibrant scenes.

The Oculus Rift developer kit model is now scheduled to ship to Kickstarter backers from March 2013, with pre-order customers served from the official website expected to follow in April.

I'm really looking forward to getting one of these, but I decided to wait until they release the retail 1080p version.
