French publisher Anuman Interactive has announced the development of the long-promised next addition to the acclaimed Syberia adventure games, revealing that writer Benoit Sokal will be returning to write the new tale, and developer Microids' departed founder coming back to helm the project (via Polygon
Anuman originally announced Syberia 3 in the spring of 2010, shortly after the Microïds acquisition. "After two long years of waiting for the fans, with Benoit writing the script and Elliot joining our team, [Syberia 3] has truly entered its production phase," said Anuman general manager Stéphane Longeard in a press release announcing the deal with Sokal and Grassiano. Sokal added, "I'm very pleased to be creating another Kate Walker adventure and working with Anuman Interactive's teams on the project."
Syberia 3 is scheduled for a multiplatform launch in 2014 or 2015, though no specific platforms have been named.
Additionally, the "Anuman Collection" is still currently on sale over on GOG.com, with 60% off on the bundle of 18 of the publisher's classic titles, including both Syberia 1 & 2 for US$63.82. However, as of the time of posting, the promotion has less than four hours remaining, so you'll have to jump in quick.
