Deep Silver today announced the global release of Dead Island Riptide, the next title in the Dead Island franchise, as well as providing details for the exclusive pre-order editions of the game. The new title will see players once again taking up the challenge of surviving the zombie apocalypse, this time introducing a fifth playable character into the mix.

The survivors of the zombie-apocalypse on the once beautiful island resort of Banoi escaped in a helicopter to the safety of a military ship. When a furious storm hits and the virus suddenly spreads throughout the crew, the nightmare starts all over again, leaving hope drowning in the rising tides.

Devastated by a monsoon, the island of Palanai is crawling with new zombie mutations. A fifth character with an all-new skillset will join the team, providing much needed support. Additional multiplayer communication features and brand new hub defense missions will test the survivor’s teamplay skills.

For those looking to pre-order the game two versions are currently available, the Pre-order Edition and the Special Retailers Edition. Both include a exclusive pack of weapon mods however the retailers edition will include a selected skin dependent on the retailer.

Dead Island Riptide will be available April 26th, 2013 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
