![]() The company expects to sell these units before the end of March next year, with an added 24 million software units to be sold as well according to the recent first half fiscal year report. While this is probably the first time that Nintendo has publicly announced sales expectations, it might not be that hard considering the Nintendo Wii sales. The recent fiscal report has also shed some light on Nintendo's profit forecast, which has been slashed in half from 20 billion yen ($250.5 million) to 6 billion yen ($75.1 million). This profit decrease has been attributed to the apparent poor sales in the recent 3DS handheld outside of Japan and a poor currency exchange rate. Reports are also coming through that the Wii U console will also be taking a loss for every unit, however no amount has been said yet. The Wii U will be launching on November 30th with two units available, the white basic package and the black premium package. Both include the tablet controller. For the full financial report you can find it here.

Yet.
To be fair, it's a good bridging device if you want both modernish (ps3/xbox360) games and the ability to do weird things that only nintendo do while waiting for a real console.
I'm just happy with how good steam has been so i still don't even own a console.

Other than Zombie-U I'm not really that excited about any of the games this time around. Maybe I'm just getting OLD!

Give me a dungeon keeper style of game where the other players are the heros trying to attack the dungeon, and they play from like a third person POV and the person with the Wii-U remote is the dungeon keeper setting off the traps and fucking with them and trying to stop them and is playing on his own screen from an RTS type POV. I mean theres a bazillion awesome ideas for games that could use it, that was one I came up with after about 5 seconds of thinking, but all the launch titles just look shit and gimmicky.
The game that looked the most fun to me, in all the trailers for Wii-U stuff at E3 and whatever, was that Lego cops one, that looks like an open world GTA style of game but its Lego. And that had absolutely nothing to do with the fact it was on the Wii-U, I just thought the idea of an open world GTA style Lego game looked really fun, I'd very happily buy that game on any other platform.

As a gamer I'm quite interested in the possibilies the Wii U may open up, but I'm not sure that the general public will care.

Really, the console has a lot going for it and I'm super keen to see how it unfolds. The tablet will definitely open a whole bag of new opportunities, just matter of developers jumping onto it. I can maybe see why everyone (especially devs) are hesitant about it because of the Wii and how disappointing that was for the "hardcore" market. But this does seem to be Nintendo's way of showing they still care, and are trying to give players a new method of playing.
What I would really like to see is a game that uses the pro controller for normal play, but subs in the tablet for extra things like for example mapping, inventory management or special interactions with the environment. Hell if Nintendo just makes another Pokemon Snap the Wii U would sell like hotcakes.
