Yesterday we saw some investigation into the latest update for Borderlands 2 yield high results, with PS3Trophies confirming what many believed was the first DLC themed around pirates. It seems these rumours are actually true, with Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford confirming via Associated Press that the DLC will indeed be pirate themed, and that we will be seeing it as early as October 16th.
"You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water," said Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford. "It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on."

The new campaign tasks players with battling new enemies like sand worms, hovering across the terrain in the new sand skiff vehicle and collecting a new currency called seraph crystals. Pitchford said the new campaign was designed with all players in mind - from those who haven't finished the game to the elite who are replaying it again to discover more swag.
This will the first of four DLC's planned for Borderlands 2, with users able to purchase them either separately or in the Season Pass. Currently no price has been said yet for Australian gamers, however the US will be paying $9.99 for each separate DLC so most likely around that mark.

Finished the game once with the Siren and already halfway through with a couple of others.

Looking forward to more areas, new weapons and stuff to collect and kill.

No you go away. Don't like the game that's your problem.

Coming from the guy who said "id rather play COD on the WII", your opinion sadly does not hold any weight.

^Dude, that just implies that this title is crap. Not that i dont know what im talking about.
If someone would rather play a proper FPS on a crap console rather than BL2 on the best console, that to me implies, that BL2 is the piece of s*** that it is.
Havent met a dedicated FPS fan who likes BL2 yet. So deal with it, f**lips.

And until you circle jerks dont like something and you ......... voice your opinion, you can go and f*** yourselves.
Go and collect trophies and enjoy pointless walks from one end of an uninspiring map to the other. real FPS fans have already moved on and left BL2 with their copy of BL1, in the drawer.

I don't know why you think Borderlands 2 is like a third person shooter. It's pretty clear all the stuff you didn't like comes from action role-playing games like Diablo, which is what Borderlands takes its inspiration from.

maybe because your dedicated fps boyfriends are looking at it the wrong way.
To expect some kind of CoD style shooter from this game is bordering on retarded.

Thanks Mantorok. I really dont like RPG's of any ilk and BL2 was sold to me as a FPS. EB had 3 deals when i purchased my PS3 and when asked which one i wanted i just said i like FPS games, and counter dude said id love BL2. So i got that included as well as Gods Of War 3 (3rd person?) which, im told is brilliant but ive got to start from the 1st title and embrace the story.
So ive been playing BL2 up until today when i finally got my hands on COD 4, Rage and Army of 2. So now the frustration and angst has subsided as BL2 isnt the only 'FPS' i have

So you got exactly what you asked for. The sales person did his job.

Borderlands 2:

1. Gun and projectile weapon-based combat: CHECK
2. First-person perspective: CHECK
3. Action through the eyes of the protagonist: CHECK
4. Action game: CHECK
5. Multiplayer: CHECK

If you only wanted COD-style games, you should have specified you were after a mind-numbing, on-rails, mostly non-interactive cinematic FPS that you can finish in under 10 hours.

oh i play them on everything. And i enjoy FPS on the console. The mouse may be more accurate, but i dont enjoy the feel of using the awsd keys to get around. Love the thumbsticks. And the fact i can play it on my lounge and not sitting bolt upright.

So you got exactly what you asked for.

Yes and no. When someone say they love FPS games, as a salesperson, BL2 shouldnt be the 1st title you think of. Sure its new and part of the deal, but couldnt he of gone 'well do you like COD'?, to which id reply 'f*****g love it'.
'Oh, then you might not like this, i'll see if i can swap it with an older FPS title for you' he could of retorted.
This is a gaming shop afterall. Anyone ive spoken to after the fact has gone on to say that BL2 isnt really most FPS fans cup of tea.
I dont really care about my noob status on such matters btw. And thankyou for all responses.

When someone say they love FPS games, as a salesperson, BL2 shouldnt be the 1st title you think of.

If you asked an XBox owner "what is a good FPS", they'd point to Halo - a space-based, somewhat open-terrained, alien-weaponed, energy-shield oriented combat FPS. Borderlands also happens to be space-based, [properly] open, with alien weapons and energy shields, so obviously this isn't what's bothering you.

I thought maybe you don't like RPG-style character development elements. BL2 lets you level play different classes, level up, gain new skills, have access to many combinations and classes of weapons, and can approach fictional mission targets however way you like on foot or by vehicle. However, Battlefield 3 multiplayer has all of these elements too and no one is complaining! So this can't be the issue either.

I think you're just after a combination of simple single-player with a clear-cut start and end, and no choices or deviation allowed in between. Basically you need to ask your EB guy for a modern-day, linear, special-ops type single-player game where you navigate hallways between cutscenes and the game ends in a Michael Bay style explosive cinematic after 10 hours.

(also may I point out the irony that you're going on about "fps friends not liking BL2" as some sort of authoritative comment, but you have to resort to asking a sales guy what some good games are)

Borderlands 2 only combines the FPS aspect in how it is viewed, and what you use to kill enemies with. It has instead taken a rather larger amount of the RPG genre, with a loot-based system, ranks/levels, questing and such. Obviously your attitude towards RPG's isn't anything near what you want from an FPS, so that is probably why you never enjoyed it.

No game is for everyone, but feeling the need to comment on a game and share your opinion that it is utter trash because it is not an FPS is a bit odd. But whatever floats your boat really.

to be frank, I think that BL2 might be aimed at a slightly higher age/intelligence (not saying your dumb but it might reference a few things you've not been into), that game has so many damn in jokes, it is like watching something written by eric idol, and simon pegg, (and how cool would that be!)

if you are looking for a FPS this is one of the titles that would be high on my recommend list (if i was selling games) and TBH if you clammed up and only gave him the info of "i like FPS's" and nothing else, what do you expect? (BL2 covers a large group when it comes to enjoyment, because there is a little more than just shooting,)

now, if you had said "i like FPS's like battlefield, and COD" then I would understand why you would be upset

also, you dont have to play a PC sitting bolt upright, and as a bonus you can even play with a controller if you so wish (and if you have the cash to splash, it will look prettier on PC everytime*)

*provided they code the thing right and it isn't a lame arse port

The counter dude sold you BL2 cause it is fairly current, it's in his interest to sell you newer games. COD 4, Rage and Army of 2 are older and Army of 2 is third person. I haven't played Rage but from reviews I have seen it made me think of Borderlands with a different art style. Also COD is what's wrong with games these days stop buying them.

So many fails no you hang up.

Im a massive FPS fanboi and did not enjoy BL2 (found the shooter gameplay lacking and the game more of an RPG which i didnt like) however i readily admit its not the kind of shooter i like and not the fault of the game as they had a target audience in mind and it wasnt me.

But COD? F*** no, id rather Borderlands over the recent CODs anyday. COD6+7+8 have been s***house, both SP and MP with f*** all changes to the gameplay experience. To think CODs define the FPS genre is just plain retarded and is the console kiddy logic that has come to define the f***wits that love COD. You mentioned you only recently got COD4, bro, you are like 5yrs late and most definitely not a FPS fanboi. Change the "FPS fanboi" to "COD fanboi" so we know not to listen to you as when you mention FPS fanboi you bring memories of CS, Quake, UT etc not COD.

I get what your saying davo, but I think CoD does define the fps genre for the most part, which is f***ed up, but unfortunately where it stands.

enough derailing, I'm looking forward to the dlc, although I'm nowhere near ready for it.

Depends IMO. I would hope the series doesnt for PC gamers but maybe it does for console gamers.
