As previously announced, Valve has extended the scope of their hugely successful PC game content delivery service Steam to digitally retail some regular software applications.
The service's first titles include Futuremark's popular 3DMark benchmarking tools 3DMark Vantage, and 3DMark 11, and YoYo Game's GameMaker Studio software development tools.
Like the game's on Steam, software apps purchased on Steam will be able to take advantage of the familiar easy install and auto-updating processes, and some even offer Steam Cloud support, allowing users to save work in their Steam account.
The full list of titles can be found at
steampowered.com/software, and are available at a 10% discount for the first week.
