Ed Annunziata, the designer of the original SEGA Megadrive/Genesis title Ecco the Dolphin, has been
excitedly tweeting a hopeful return to the aquatic series, letting fans know that he has scheduled a meeting with SEGA with plans to pitch an Ecco revival (thanks
Venturebeat).
@edannunziata Ecco fans, I need you to follow & tweethank @scottfoe, he convinced SEGA to meet with me now chances of a new Ecco the Dolphin x100!
Whether this will amount to anything depends on SEGA's reception of course, however Annunziata seems optimistic, as he has further confirmed that Ecco's original composer, Spencer Nilsen, is
also on-board --or perhaps that should be overboard.
Ecco was among the most successful titles of the Megadrive era for SEGA, and although the publisher last revisited it on the Dreamcast over a decade ago, none of the original game's team were reportedly involved.
