C&VG are today reporting (thanks GamePolitics) that the Paris-based media giant Vivendi is still considering selling off its multi-billion dollar stake in Activision Blizzard, despite recent claims that there would be no simple "straight break-up".

The report follows recent assurances by Philippe Capron, Vivendi finance director, that no such offer had, or is being made, at the moment, however, a "credible" source to C&VG has said otherwise. According to the unknown source, the media company is still considering the sale of Activision Blizzard despite no one taking the offer.

Vivendi has priced the videogames company at a rather large sum of €8 billion, though this may actually be where the company is failing to gather interest. The sale of the company would serve as an expedient solution, with recent reports showing a €14 billion debt with the media giant.

Rumours have recently popped up that Vivendi and Microsoft were in talks, however, no news has come of yet. Sony on the other hand is believed to have completely ruled out obtaining the gaming giant.

I say this roumor is bogus, or someone at Vivendi did something wrong and the company needs big cash fast, or believes that the videogame sector isn't worth it anymore.
