A few months ago
we saw the announcement of a new zombie survival themed game titled The War Z, which is being developed by a studio called Hammerpoint Interactive. The devs touted that the game would offer what many players are eagerly wanting from a genre being popularised by the recent Arma 2 mod, DayZ. While what we got was only still screenshots, many were eagerly awaiting for gameplay footage that would show the game in action.
The developers have today showed us just that, with the first trailer showcasing some uncut alpha gameplay footage from this years PAX Prime event. While the dialogue between the two males is a bit stale and has a feeling of being staged, it definitely helps to see how the game runs, however obviously opinions will be made up when we can actually try out the game for ourselves.
You can check out the footage below (
HD over here) for a glimpse into the world of The War Z, which showcases hunger, thirst, inventory and weaponry in action.

Also, incredibly lame vid. I skippd thru the 4mins and he seemed to just explore, find some stuff then shoot 3 dudes @ the end. Boring. I mean some Dayz gameplay vids can also be lame but if i wanted to promote my game, surely id make it an exciting vid.
And i know its alpha but that gunplay @ the end looked so lame. Dunno how to describe it but just no appeal whatsoever.
I have nothing against a more arcade version as i can understand if they wanna appeal to that market. If they have a hardcore and a normal mode, then it might suit both crowds.

They want to cash in on the DayZ success, but they're just not delivering anything great.
Remember that DayZ is in alpha, and while this was prettier than DayZ, it lacked any of the suspense or fear that you experience in DayZ.

Just like how they are in dayz... oh wait... :P
lol nah they've actually mentioned that in this, the zombies have relatively poor eyesight at the moment, they hunt with hearing and scent.
Though the exec producer has said they're looking at making shit like flares and other light sources nearby draw in zombies.
It's called a silencer?
Granted, not terribly realistic, but the same can be done in DayZ so meh *shrug*
