Due to a bit of a mail problem, our Transformers: Fall of Cybertron review is slightly belated, but here nonetheless and a good thing too, because this little package is much more than meets the eye (I couldn't resist).

Andy "Butters" Bulmer took to the dying world of Cybertron for us to perform review duties, and walked away a happy chappy, praising the game's art-direction, its escalation mode and above all else, its well-crafted official canon tale. The game really is a lot of fun, and despite a lack of local support for retail PC, it's absolutely worth looking into regardless of your platform of choice.

"Weapon variety unengaging". Im finding the range of weapons pretty meh so far. Havent yet tried the upgrades though but i doubt they will make much of a difference. Im more pissed that i somehow missed some early gun blueprints during the first 1 or 2 missions and hope i didnt miss some sweet weapon i would rather be using.

Also, the PC version seems to have a number of keyboard+mouse control schemes to choose from but you cant actually rebind keys. As a non WASD user, im stuck with goddam WASD and fucking hate it. I wont buy the game unless they change this option. Cant imagine how the wierdos that use out there controls such as RMB for forwards will play this game.

I use WASD but to hear than they've made it it so u can't remap your keys again is pretty lame. That should be like a standard that should be enforced on a PC gaming platform.

I use normal mouse settings for FPS, so whatever that is. For movement I use ESDF. Suits my larger hands better and allows for easy access to more keys left and right of movement where as WASD only allows for keys mainly to the right. Excluding numbers and shift, control etc, i have access to QWRTAGZXCV from ESDF while WASD only allows for QERFZXC using the same method of counting. 10 vs 7. Not all games need heaps of keys but some do. It actually all started with tribes 2 i played heavily when i was new to FPS and it had default of ESDF and it had heaps of controls. At college we played COD extensively and when i introduced the guys on the floor to my ESDF most preferred it despite experience with the default of WASD. I know there are a tonne of setups, each with their pros and cons. There was a thread a while back when someone new to FPS asked about control setups and the combos people had were crazy. Whatever works IMO.

Exactly. Everybody has their own control preferences. I smash Q for melee, and always have but my console mate for some reason prefers mouse wheel down - not allowing us to customise controls is just plain dumb. Next they wont offer different resolutions.

I'm enjoying this game a good deal, it's good fun. Being an old TF Gen 1 fan it's great to see all these old transformers that appear like their original depictions. Some great moments in the game so far, particularly enjoy a certain part where you can see metroplex looming from out of the background while you are playing as Prime.

Playing it on PS3 though, don't think I would bother with it on PC due to the controls.

I use YGHJ which gives me the full range of keys around it. Right Alt is especially useful for crouch.
