We missed this one when it launched, but it's interesting enough to follow up on. David Crane, the creator of the iconic Pitfall, also known as one of the co-founders of Activision, launched a Kickstarter project last week, with the aim of crowd-funding a spiritual successor to the aforementioned Atari 2600 arcade classic, creatively titled David Crane's Jungle Adventure.
Imagine a lush, textured, multi-dimensional living jungle, where you slip through the foliage on the quest to solve an incredible mystery.

Now imagine this takes place in a unique side-scrolling platform adventure from the legendary creator of Pitfall!™, the game that invented the genre.
Crane has a serious legacy in the history of video games, but has been seemingly absent from the creative side of game development since the Super Nintendo era, leaving little in the way of a portfolio to entice the support of modern gamers.

The funding activity so far on the Kickstarter project appears to be reflecting that position, with only $15,800 raised from 430 backers so far, and only a few pieces of rather unimpressive concept art and little mention of the supposed innovative gameplay that the team intends to bring to the genre.

The US$900,000 goal isn't not beyond reality for crowd-funded gaming projects, but they're going to have to really ramp up the updates and share some substantial details on the game for Jungle Adventure (most helpfully, some actual prototype gameplay) to have any hope of climbing that vine.

Never heard of this guy, except his namesake the Friends/Episodes producer.

So I looked him up and it turns out he made this.

I'd chip in for a sequel to that despite the bad reviews of the original
