Rather amazingly raising over half of its lofty US$500,000 goal in the last three days of the campaign, the Kickstarter funding drive for Shadowrun Online means that there are now two promising videogames based on the classic RPG license in production.
Shadowrun Online is set in the dystopian near-future of the 2070s, where you can go on runs with a group of players or dish it out against other runners in tactical PvP combat.

Choose from classic Shadowrun roles such as Rigger, Hacker, Shaman, Mage or Street Samurai and leave your mark on the 6th World in this next generation turn-based action game. Featuring a unique player driven plot development, tactical co-op gameplay and PvP based Turf wars, Shadowrun Online even allows users to determine the future path of the official pen and paper timeline by their collective actions.
Austrian studio Cliffhanger Productions will now continue full time development of the MMO which will interestingly launch with both free-to-play and subscription options.

Eager contributors that missed the Kickstarter boat can still pledge via PayPal over on the official website "at least for the next 2 to 3 weeks".

The 2D turn-based singleplayer game is also stil in production at Jordan Weisman's Hairbrained Schemes studio.

Huh, didn't see that coming. I backed Shdowrun Returns but wasn't interested in Shadowrun Online, but I was sad to see it failing. Usually Kickstarter projects peter off towards the end.

I too am surprised this made it. It looked pretty dead a week ago.

Hey Dan, remember how Ray wrote that manual for Shadowrun back in the day?
