A recent comment on The Verge's podcast with Microsoft's Brian Hall has caused quite a lot of speculation and rumouring about the unconfirmed Xbox 720, with many having believed that the comment suggested a new Xbox.

The comment, where Brian Hall suggested "that a 'new Xbox' was part of a new wave of product updates arriving soon that include Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8" was actually not referring to a new Xbox itself, but instead a updated product line-up and the new Xbox dashboard.
"The comments to The Verge were not understood in their intended context," says a Microsoft spokesperson. "When Brian mentioned a ‘new wave of products,’ he was referring to the full lineup of products coming later this year from Microsoft, including Windows 8, Office, Windows Phone and of course our fall Xbox update which will bring a host of new consumer experiences like Xbox Music, Videos, Games on Windows 8 and Xbox SmartGlass."
While no Microsoft officials have actually commented on the whereabouts of the Xbox 720, there have been a number of leaks in the recent months suggesting the next-gen console could be seen by as early as next year.

For those wondering about the new dashboard look, the update will be rolling out along with the release of Windows 8, which will include SmartGlass functionality and the Internet Explorer 9 browser.

It's got to be obvious to anyone they won't announce until after the Christmas/Holiday season because it'll reduce sales of current xboxs and xbox games.
