Gearbox Software has released the first behind-the-scenes type developer diary video for their upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines, featuring some of the studio's artistic types talking about their dedication to authenticity.

In attempting to create the game with an aesthetic and narrative that stays true to Ridley Scott's original Alien film and as an extension of James Cameron's Aliens, the devs mention how their meeting with Ridley about a potential Bladerunner game resulted in Colonial Marines, and how they are trying to capture the same cinematic style of the films.

Watch the embed below or here on our HD video page. Aliens: Colonial Marines is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 12th 2013, with a Wii-U version also in the works.

This should be excellent given that it is being developed by Gearbox.

looks interesting, problem is it already looks dated and it's not even released for at least for another 8 months? Hope the same problem doesn't happen with it like it did with duke nukem.

So I take it in the process of developing this game they have unlocked the secret of time travel and going to release it 6 months in the past?

Who cares if the graphics look like kaka, as long as I'm s*** scared looking over my shoulder playing it I reckon they nailed what they are trying to achieve.

Agreed. If they can pull an amnesia where you are scared to progress then well done. Still waiting to hear if there is a zombie type mode though.
