While some of us may be a bit older now and not as interested in browser based MMO's, there are still quite a few eager fans awaiting probably one of the biggest updates to RuneScape since it went full 3D.

The update is being dubbed "Evolution of Combat" by Jagex, and today the studio announced that eager members will be able to test out the new combat upgrade in one of four open beta weekends.
The Evolution of Combat update includes a host of new features designed to add even more excitement and skill to the game. These features include the ability to dual wield weapons; the introduction of action bars; new abilities which unlock as the battle progresses and the new adrenaline bar fills; the ability to cast buffs and weaknesses on your allies and opponents respectively; the ability to produce critical hits and – finally – a whole host of new character animations.
The weekend beta will begin Friday 6th at 7pm AEST and finish at 7pm AEST on Monday 9th July, with Jagex offering a unique outfit if you participate in all four beta weekends.

For those interested in the combat update, check out the official website where they have a huge amount of screenshots including several explanation videos for those in need of a visual guide.

I remember playing runescape for the first time when I was 12 years old and the game only had 2 servers, I switched to PVP and ganked some poor cunt outside of lumbridge and took his bronze shield. Was my first and sweetest taste of mmo PVP.
