I really, really wanted this Spidey outing to be good. After the success of the Batman: Arkham games, there's no reason for a Spidey game to fail, and the strength of comic-book movies at the box office and their general popularity overall, should really have the next batch of games based on top-tier characters sorted.
Unfortunately that's not the case, as I found out in this week's review. The Amazing Spider-Man suffers from a bit of 'me-too' against Bats' recent outings, and fails to find a cadence that suits your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The potential in this character and his heritage is huge, but the execution of anything desirable, game-wise (and post his awesome Master System release moons ago), eludes anyone who gets their hands on his license.

Why must Spider-Man games always suck?

Did you miss the Iron Man movies or something?

Correction, new movie is excellent. Went to a preview screening last Monday night and utterly enjoyed it. New dude is a far superior Peter Parker than McGuire was, although the chick that plays Gwen Stacey never ends up in the rain without a bra on, so I guess there's points off for that.

The early 2000s Spiderman movies sucked and the new movie looks like it will really suck as well. Basically, I don't really like Marvel superheroes and their movies all that much. Xmen/2/First Class were good and Ironman was okay.
That first Spiderman movie was amazingly bad actually.
edit: oh and The Avengers fucking owned.

Generally I prefer DC stuff to Marvel, but Marvel have been doing some pretty awesome movies lately. This new Spider-man movie is made by Sony though, not Marvel, so I'm not expecting the awesomeness of Iron Man or The Avengers out of it.
I'm desperately hanging out to see a trailer for Man of Steel, I'm hoping it can do for Superman what Batman Begins/The Dark knight has done for Batman.

he's right though. the movie is getting amazing reviews from critics.
also apparently the oscorp building from the amazing spider-man was going to appear in the skyline of the avengers movie but they didn't have enough time to implement it. spidey in an avengers movie would be my dream come true.

Was a bit slow to get going, but thats the downside of it being another origin movie I guess.
