Sony Officially Confirms God of War: Ascension for PS3

Yesterday we reported on leaked information that suggested Sony were set to announce an all-new God of War title for the PlayStation 3 called God of War: Ascension.

Today the gaming giant has officially revealed that the game is indeed in development, releasing a new HD trailer alongside the announcement you can view embedded below (or right here from our videos page).

The most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far, God of War: Ascension takes us right back to where it all began. Discover the origins of Kratos as he takes his first steps on a now legendary quest for freedom.

No release date was given, but we're going to confidently expect this one towards the end of the year.
