Last week we saw a slip up on Origin revealing box art for Crysis 3, all but confirming that we could expect the next sequel of Crytek's alien-punching sandbox shooter sometime soon.
Crytek has today officially announced Crysis 3, which will see players take control of "Prophet" from the previous two titles. Set in New York, the player must fight their way through the alien entrenched streets with a composite bow, a nanosuit and a heap of alien technology.
Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces.Crytek has also announced that players who are ready to start the hunt can pre-order the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition today. Currently available to pre-order on Origin at an Australian price tag of $79.99, the Hunter Edition is jam packed with goodies.
Crytek has also given players a bit of eye candy, with five new screenshots showing off the beautiful looking scenery that the CryENGINE 3 is able to offer (check out this video on what the engine can do) which you can check out below.
While no multiplayer details have been released yet, we can hopefully expect more news in the coming months, especially with AusGamers attending E3 once again this year.
Crysis 3 will be available 2013 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Pre-orders are now available on Origin for PC.
