Hybrid Closed-Beta Sign-Ups Open with new Gameplay Trailer

We're still not entirely sure what Hybrid is, but a little bit of new info and a gameplay trailer for the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade game from Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell are helping to paint a better picture. The best we can tell, the game is a multiplayer-focused 3v3 hardcore shooter, designed to run at 60FPS with fast-paced ground and jetpack combat.

In 2032 a newly built Hadron Supercollider imploded, obliterating Australia. The world was sent into turmoil as an alternate reality collided with our own and from it emerged a species known as the Variant. Chaos ensued and world war broke out between the Variants and a group of rebel humans known as the Paladins.

Xbox 360 owners with an active Xbox Live Gold account can click over to the official site to put their hand up for a closed beta that kicks off in April 2012, and everyone can watch this new gameplay trailer, embedded below, or here in our HD video library.
