I'm surprised Activision aren't charging something for the free version :O

I'll be getting it just because I want to play SP but I'm definitely not buying it off steam or retail.

I don't really get the complaints - you're getting a free game here. If you don't like it, then you can skip the premium component, but still can play the free part. If you do like it, you can pay more and get more of a game. Free games yo!

So what about the monthly DLC? free user's are expected to fork out every four weeks for new DLC or get split from the rest of the community?
Or even better It could be like Blops and we buy the fucking DLC only to never get a server that runs it for, guess what, fear of splitting the player base. Lame.
Deffo not buying or grabbing the free (lol) version. Enjoy your splintered community.

I assume they mean when you buy MW3 on Steam you get MW1 for free.

Im confused too. Was pretty sure Elite was some subscription based upsell they were doing to milk even more money out of the shitlords that already pick up this game every year.

Where is this free game shit coming from... You've still gotta buy MW3 lmao

but makes me think, are they really saying "HEY BUY MW3 AND YOU GET THIS SHIT FOR FREE!!!!!"

Question, is it just yearly or what?

I play every COD game less online than the one before. So I don't want to subscribe for a years time when I could be over the MP really quickly.
Especially since BF3 will be out, and I know i'll like and want to play that more.

So I don't mind paying, i don't like it, but don't mind, I do mind paying on the idea i'll get a years worth of value. That's nonsense. And if history is anything to go buy, forgetting the fact BF3 will be out, i'd prob be gone in a few months.

Really makes me think i'll just hold off on MP or the game all entirely until i want a break from BF3 or in case that isn't good.

Of course then's the issue of, the longer you wait, the less value the service is, because less players and so forth.

Side COD note, they still charge for DLC for MW2. Wtf?? The MP is practically dead on PC. If you bought the game and wanted MP, you'd find nothing, then get DLC in hope and still find nothing. That's a joke and that's how I know they are fully interested in ripping people off.

Bottom line is, why pay for a subscription service for such a long period? Of course now that it incorporates Black Ops, we all know that game will be compromised if you want to stick with that and not go MW3.

Monthly DLC..... fuck me I thought they would exceed the rough average of 4 per title but 12 DLC in one year. They just had to go and fuck this up didn't they. Although I expect that much of this will be small shit like a new weapon or something, they can't churn out a map pack each month, well probably not.. I hope not.

I wonder what the monthly DLC will cost... I'll go with $10USD.

Well each DLC atm is like 3 maps per hit sn't it? I'm assuming they'll just split that up and do 1 map a month. Same amount of DLC just in smaller chunks

I'll still be getting it. I've got RO2 for my realism, bf3 for my tank/jets and MW3 for my arcade dedicated server game.

What's the bet the monthly DLC will actually include a lot of maps, if not all of them from COD4 and MW2?

There seems to be a $99 payment barrier to get this free game? Or are you saying that this isn't modern warfare 3?

Its sad what activision is doing to the gaming industry. I would bet that the 12-14yr olds on XBL would be foaming at the mouth for this though.

Whats all this talk of a free game? As I understood it you still have to buy MW3, and then pay for this on top of it.
