Just in case there wasn't enough ways to fritter away your days with social networking, EA have brought their grossly addictive Sims franchise into the world of Facebook with free-to-play The Sims Social now available in-browser for windows.

The Sims Social brings the fun and creativity of The Sims to Facebook! Create unique Sims and live out their dreams—or stir up trouble by pulling pranks. Develop deep relationships to unlock new features and advance: befriend and fight, date and cheat, love and betray. Play with life in a whole new way—with your real friends, for free!

The announcement trailer below basically outlines that this game is the perfect tool for kickstarting an online office romance with a coworker that was too awkward to approach in person. Oh and there's virtual tapas (I shit you not) a new game-mechanic that will no doubt change the way we all think about e-appetisers.

Oops, I think I meant to check this out ages back when somebody told me they were in the alpha or beta or somesuch. The technology looks interesting, I can see it potentially doing very very well.

I'm betting the game is crippled like timmeh until you throw down your credit card details for all of the micro purchases you will be required to complete in order to get any kind of gaming experience out of this bs

Wait and see. Games like that rarely succeed from what I've gathered, it's apparently only about 2% of the users who will pay, and the majority get scared away if it's pay-to-win.
