A few of you had probably already heard the rumours that this one was coming, but developer Stainless Games have now officially announced the development of Carmageddon: Reincarnation (as the name would suggest) a long-awaited sequel to the classic combat racing games from the late nineties.

"Who are Stainless Games?" you might ask, well they're actually the developers of the original Carmageddon games and have reaquired the franchise license after a decade of low-profile downloadable and portable titles.
"Carmageddon has returned to its Indie developer roots, and the time is right to bring the game to a new audience,” said Patrick Buckland, CEO and Stainless co-founder. “Originally an ambitious title that tested the hardware limits of its day, we’re excited that the game will finally get the showcase it deserves on today’s platforms.”

“Carmageddon: Reincarnation will feature the same black humour and comic violence that made the original game such a success.” said Neil Barnden, Executive Director and Stainless co-founder. “All the laughs, the crazy power-ups, and extreme destruction will return. We will make sure the existing fans get what they want and expect from a Carmageddon game, and a new generation discovers the delights of sliding into a Cunning Stunt.”

“I was in the war!” Patrick added.
Stainless are aiming for a 2012 release on digital download platforms and is currently seeking a publishing partner.

As carson said F*** Yeah! Damn i been waiting for this for a long time.

I wonder if they are still forced to make zombies instead of humans,
would not be suprised if they still are zombies in this sensitive day and age we live in...

It's good to see stainless is in charge of this anyone else i would not be interested.

I was JUST about to post this but beaten!. I always hoped a new Carmageddon would come out and if anyone was going to do one, i'm glad it's the original team. Should be kick ass and possibly banned so you'll know it'll be fun as hell.
