Bethesda have given us the skinny on just what Brink's Steamworks housing will offer, as well as the best and minimum requirements your rig will need to run the multiplayer-centric title.

Steam features include VOIP support, Steam Achievements, Valve Anti-Cheat support, Steam Cloud, Friend support (including invites and joining session in progress), Leaderboards and... drum roll please, Dedicated Servers. We're in a bit of a good position at the moment to grill the team about more details regarding dedicated server support, so stay tuned in the next little bit for more.

As for PC system requirements:
    Minimum
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz or equivalent
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 8800GS/AMD Radeon HD 2900 Pro or equivalent
  • OS: Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
  • Hard Drive: 8GB of free space

  • Recommended
  • Processor: Intel Quad Core i5
  • Memory: 3GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460/AMD Radeon HD 5850
  • OS: Windows XP (SP3)/Vista/Windows 7
  • Hard Drive: 8GB of free space
So there you have it. They certainly took their time getting this info to us, but on the surface so far, it all sounds very promising. As mentioned above, stay tuned for more details very soon, right here on AusGamers.

I have heard the dedicated servers are pure dedicated old school style. I'm not 100% sure, so I'll let you guys find that out xD

Wow those are very high system requirements for a Doom 3 engine game.

In fairness, it's probably about as much of an id Tech 4 game as Call of Duty 4 was an id Tech 3 (Quake 3) engine game.

Hmm heavy requirements, recommended usually means medium settings. High or max details/settings will be even higher, possibly GTX570 and fast Quad, i7 style.

Hope this is because the game uses some spectacular effects / tech, rather than being poorly ported over and requiring lots of muscle to run it.

Ported from what? It's using an engine written for the PC.

Ah, even if it was ported, those kind of system requirements wouldn't be needed. Remember, console hardware is 6 or so years old, so requirements like that wouldn't be needed. And yeah, as Mantorok says, it's being made on a engine written for PC.

Like black ops is quake 3 engine, yet had plenty of pc specific performance issues because it was made for console first in mind, and there are some unreal engine console ports which don't run that great either.

Yeah if it was a good port that would be relevant, the suggestion was it could possibly be a bad port.

It doesn't use DX11 cause it's OpenGL! Not enough games use this anymore... let's hope it rocks!

Not every game HAS to use DX11. They have to pick the middle ground or else they take the risk of alienating a heap of players.
