Bethesda have sent word that the official website for RAGE has had a bit of an overhaul and now features an interactive panoramic map of the wasteland that lets you explore many of the locations, guns, vehicles and gadgets that will be at your disposal when the game launches later this year.

Also on offer (reportedly for a limited time) is a free MP3 download of the original track Burning Jacob's Ladder by Mark Lanegan that featured in the recent trailer. Lanegan's contribution to RAGE's soundtrack joins a long line of talented musicians that have lent their tunes to id Software games.

The original Quake, was scored by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, who coincidently recently won an Academy Award for his work on The Social Network film soundtrack. Sonic Mayhem and Chris Vrenna also had hands in Quake 2 and Doom 3 respectively and of course there's the iconic Doom and Doom 2 scores from Bobby Prince (even if all the good riffs were lifted from metal songs). So even if the gameplay in RAGE doesn't live up to expectations, at least it should sound good.

RAGE is due on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Australia on September 16th 2011.
