As promised (though slightly belated due to a bit of illness), here's our hands-on impressions of CDProjekt RED's The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, as played by yours truly recently out at an exclusive event in London town.

The hands-on demo was largely locked to a single side-mission, with a nice chunk of narrative that we've decided to avoid for those of you who like your previews spoiler-free (we're looking at you, rest of the games industry press). I do, however, go into detail regarding controls, combat, environments and more, for those of you wondering how this plays in the wake of the first game.

Hell yes, just in time for my bday.
Steve, thoughts on if the engine will hold its own against Bethesda's?

Enska, I'll be seeing Skyrim in a couple weeks time so will probs do a comparison piece then, but from what I've seen and played so far. It holds up VERY well ;)

Think I'll give it a miss. The first Witcher's PC controls were complete ass and I'm not convinced they can make them better with the sequel. I guess I've been spoiled by WoW's perfect 3rd person controls. They just work flawlessly and I really find it hard why most companies can't get it right.

Once you've been playing with a certain control setup for the last 8 years. Anything different, better or worse, is going to feel and control like complete ass.

Though the Witcher was pretty much balls for a few hours until you got use to it.

Steve, how was the Voice acting? In the first game some of it is pretty bad and was really the only problem i had with it.

Even still i loved the first Witcher and this one is shaping up to be awesome.

I hated Witcher PC controls at first, but once I got used to it & the combat system, it rocked.

I dont want every single game to cop WoW's 3rd person controls or every game will feel like WoW with a new skin. :)

It controls very well - nothing like the first game, it's standard third-person controls now; very pick-up-and-play
