Remember that kick ass teaser trailer for "Beyond Black Mesa", a spin-off of Half-Life that was entirely fan-made? Well, said fans have actually finished work on their short film, and they've done an incredible job (especially with a reported budget of just $1200).

We've embedded the YouTube video below for you to check it out; it runs for just over 11 minutes and is also available to stream in 720p HD.

It might not be as impactful as this video, but it sure does come close and shows that with a little bit of love and reverence, any videogame source material can be treated properly in film.

Me too tbh. Bit sad really. Looking at the website you linked last twitter update was over a year ago. The main forum is just a whole bunch of "when is it released" threads.

IMO valve should take the project over or something and release it with portal as orange box 2 :P

Great flick by a bunch of amateur guys, sweet post production although i don't like the feel of it being some zombie killer flick. Awesome camera work and the background music was sweet as.

I turn off to almost everything that has a zombie in it (except Shaun of the Dead that was too funny)

It seems like the hyperbole started there anyway and then spawned into this whole try hard genre of fan crap, not to mention L4D and other such mind numbing games
