![]() We’re exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we’ve said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we’re interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project. If you’re passionate about all things Diablo and have the requisite skill and experience, then head over to our jobs site to check out the positions and apply.Interesting. At BlizzCon, AusGamers asked the 'console question' in our interview with lead world designer, Leonard Boyarski, who responded with: "We've talked about it, I mean it's something that, you know, out of all the games that we've done as a company, it just seems like the most obvious. But right now we're just concentrating on the Mac and PC version of the game. But everyone says it, and you said it too, it's the most obvious one... but right now we have enough on our plate finishing this one (laughs)." Take all of that as you will, but I'd venture it's confirmation we'll see Diablo in some form on consoles in the not-too-distant future.

Besides who honestly wants to play Diablo on a console?

Action RPGs are a good fit for consoles, the only real hurdle is inventory navigation and that could be worked around with enough of a focused effort which there's no reason to be suggest that Blizzard wouldn't. When was the last time they released an underpolished product? (You can criticise StarCraft 2 for it's bullish regionalisation etc, but hard to deny that it's polished as all hell).

There's no way they're going to jump ship to the console market, they are primarily a PC developer, and hiring console people proves this

StarCraft was relelased on Nintendo 64. The sequel didn't seem to suffer much.

I just hope they maintain just as much focus on PC titles as they will do for console titles in the future. Valve do that perfectly, so hopefully Blizzard can follow them.

o_0 might even be something completely different from Diablo III altogether...

.
case example is starcraft ghost. it's either going to be great or just not be released.
as long as it's on PC i'll be happy. some cross platform would make me happier.

*taps fingertips*
Might be time to dust it off, never played it. Might be a good one for the missus and I to bash through.

Being a PC gamer at heart and a console hater ever-so-passionately, I find myself not caring. It may even tempt me towards a PS3 (being a hardcore Blizzard fan and Kingdom Hearts sequels are bound to end up there anyway).
There's so little possibility that Blizz will start blowing off PC for the console market. Considering ALL their market is on the PC, it'd take one hell of a game + huge marketing campaign to get a decent console crowd. Plus they're all busy playing Halo and CoD.
And they've said "We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game." and i've seen somewhere else another comment on how they're PC devs fo' life, we got nothing to worry about!
... on another note, this new IP they're developing?
Console. Defs.
Bobby Kotick walked into the Blizzard offices and didn't see an Xbox and had a massive fit.
After calming himself down through a box of doughnuts, he told them to make a console title.
How do I know this? It happened to Crytek. Valve. Dice.
RIP PC GAMING
(By the way I get technical when i'm off my face)

Completely different game to the PC version by BioWare though wasn't it? Never had a PS2 so never played it.

Yeh its an action-RPG rather than a pure RPG. It was one of the few games that really nailed co-op on the PS2.
details link they also made a sequel so there's lots of game in the series.
Also see Champions of Norrath which uses the same engine (although the EverQuest world rather than DND).

Oh, and I vote yes Diablo 3 on console, although if it doesn't happen, I won't be ragequiting or nothin'. What about the people who can't afford computers to play a game they've been waiting for since they were 9 or so.

In face it'd be good to see them do some new IPs on console, or update some of the old/forgotten ones (an updated version of RnR racing would be sweet).
